If the Bible is the cornerstone of our church, then membership is the cement that holds us all together. Both Christ and Paul pointed us toward membership for our encouragement, our protection, and our instruction. We seek to carry out this vision through our four-step process by which to join Grace Covenant Church

Membership Class

All prospective members must attend our Membership Matters class. The curriculum is composed of four one-hour classes entitled:

  • Class 1: Why Membership Matters
  • Class 2: The Church in Principle
  • Class 3: The Church in Practice
  • Class 4: Life Together

Membership classes are offered on Sunday mornings as a Core Seminar. Upon completion, those who attended all four classes are able but not obligated to sign up for a membership interview, the second step of the membership process.

Membership Interview

In a interview, the prospective member meets with an elder to work through the membership application and recount God’s converting work in his or her life. The prospective member would then affirm the statement of faith and by-laws, sign the church covenant, and the application would go to the elders.

Elder Recommendation

At a regularly scheduled elders’ meeting, the elder will review the applicant’s testimony with the other elders. Upon receiving their collective approval, the candidate’s application will proceed to the next step: congregational affirmation.

Congregational Affirmation

During a members meeting, the potential member will share his or her testimony and a pastor will present him or her to be a member of Grace Covenant Church. After a two week affirmation period, if there are no presented concerns from the exsisting membership, then he or she will be introduced as a member during a Sunday morning gathering.
